Rankin College of Business and Farmers Bank &amp; Trust Wealth Management.<\/p>\n<p>Weiss is an author, television personality and former chief technical analyst for Lehman Brothers, PaineWebber Inc., UBS\/PaineWebber and UBS. He has appeared on CNBC\u2019s \u201cSquawk Box,\u201d \u201cFast Money,\u201d \u201cTalking Numbers\u201d and \u201cTrading Nations,\u201d in addition to Bloomberg television and radio.\u00a0Relationship Investing\u00a0was named 2018\u2019s \u201cBest Investment Book of the Year\u201d by the 2018 Stock Trader\u2019s Almanac.<\/p>\n<p>Weiss was invited to come to SAU by Dr. David Rankin and Todd Smith, Executive Vice President of Wealth Management at FB&amp;T. Over two and a half days, Weiss shared his 30-plus years of experience as a chief technical analyst and work on Wall Street with students and faculty in energetic and informative sessions that engaged the students.<\/p>\n<p>Weiss arrived in Magnolia on November 4 and had numerous discussions with RCB faculty and students. \u201cIt\u2019s such an honor,\u201d he said, \u201cthe students are fantastic kids. Everyone gets along and there is this camaraderie here that you don\u2019t often see.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Weiss spoke about the importance of learning from one\u2019s investment mistakes, often comparing owning stocks to human relationships.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m lecturing on stopping financial cuts from becoming financial wounds, hemorrhages, or amputations,\u201d he said, with a laugh. \u201cThings you would not do in your life, people often do when investing in the stock market.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He cautioned that by the time a person has gained sufficient wisdom to handle their market losses, \u201cyou could be broke. That\u2019s too high a price to pay!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Weiss said he bases his buy-or-sell decisions on \u201cwhat can go wrong. I always say, \u2018be careful.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He advises students to prepare for unpredictable events in the real world. \u201cYou have to know how to adapt to sudden changes. Students need to decide in advance what environments they think they will thrive in.
