""Jordan Wylie, a senior Exercise Science major at Southern Arkansas University, has been named to the 2019-2020 Chapter Consultant team for the national organization of Phi Mu Fraternity.

Wylie, of Woodlawn, Arkansas, will travel the country assisting all collegiate chapters of Phi Mu with recruitment, chapter operations and leadership development. Her selection to this national position represents a dream come true.

“I like to tell people that I’m in love with people I’ve never met and places I’ve never been,” Wylie said. “This will be a great way to see the country and have fun while doing something I am passionate about.”

Her job as chapter consultant begins on July 21 and continues through April 24, 2020. Her base will be the national Phi Mu headquarters in Peachtree City, Georgia., but she will be assigned to various chapters throughout the country.

“We have chapters everywhere, including New York City, Hawaii, and Colorado,” she said. “So I am very excited to have this opportunity.”

Wylie will serve either as a resident consultant or a traveling consultant, which would involve weekly travel to different universities. “I’m looking forward to learning some packing tips!” she enthused.

She will meet one-on-one with chapter presidents and executives and look for ways to improve their operations. More importantly, she will work to empower women, improving their leadership skills and highlighting their abilities. Phi Mu, which is a non-profit fraternity, raises money for Children’s Miracle Network, a project Wylie will continue to work toward as chapter consultant.

I want to be a light in this world.

Showcasing women and raising money for children in need are two goals that are close to Wylie’s heart.

“I feel that I am very relatable and I can bring out the best in anybody, so I’m excited to get out there and find what’s good. I want to be a light in this world,” she said.

Her three-round application process included essays, phone interviews, and a presentation she delivered at the national Phi Mu headquarters. One week after her visit to Georgia, she was notified that she’d won the job. There are only 16 total chapter consultants in the nation. Wylie’s colleagues are from such diverse universities as the University of North Alabama, the University of Washington, and Southeastern Louisiana University. She is the only representative of Arkansas among the consultants.

As a PA, I’ve gotten to know the faculty and staff, and of course, our president, Dr. Trey Berry. I would certainly recommend SAU to anyone looking for a college home.

Wylie is the 19th member of her family to attend or graduate from SAU. She called her experience here “phenomenal. I’ve been blessed with many friendships. The people are amazing.”

At SAU, she serves as a President’s Ambassador (PA), a position that has broadened her horizons. “As a PA, I’ve gotten to know the faculty and staff, and of course, our president, Dr. Trey Berry. I would certainly recommend SAU to anyone looking for a college home.”
