The RCB recently hosted its first annual Backpack to Briefcase week from Oct. 8-12, 2018.<\/p>\n \u201cThe Backpack to Briefcase week was a success,\u201d said Dr. Robin Sronce, dean of the Rankin College of Business. \u201cWe had a large number of students participate, and I think each of the sessions provided invaluable professional advice for our future business leaders.\u201d<\/p>\n The first day of the event featured a class entitled \u201cInternships: Student Experiences,\u201d which included a panel of four current SAU students who participated in internships over the summer.<\/p>\n The second class that day was entitled \u201cResume and Cover Letter Workshops\u201d \u2013 a class designed to help students with professional techniques on building a resume so they begin looking for their first jobs out of college.<\/p>\n The second day of the event also included two classes. The first was \u201cYour Social Media Presence,\u201d which gave students advice and direction on building their profile online. Later that day, students learned to \u201cDress for Success\u201d while interviewing for jobs and on the job site.<\/p>\n Wednesday included a session of mock interviews that allowed students to go through a simulated job interview.<\/p>\n On Thursday, the RCB hosted its annual Career Fair that brought local and regional businesses to campus to talk to students about possible career opportunities.<\/p>\n Other events during the week included a discussion on \u201cWhere Can I Go with a Business Degree,\u201d a workshop on \u201cBusiness Etiquette,\u201d and an opportunity for students to have professional pictures taken for their LinkedIn pages.<\/p>\n \u201cThis was our first year for the Backpack to Briefcase week. We appreciate all of the students and business owners who took part.
