\"MMB<\/a>Making Magnolia Blossom (MMB) has opened registration for the upcoming April 2 Big Splash spring cleanup event in hopes for beautiful weather to allow hundreds of volunteers to help beautify the Magnolia community.<\/p>\n

The public is encouraged to register to volunteer at www.magnoliablossom.org\/register<\/a> as an individual, family, or teams of four to 10 members with a leader.<\/p>\n

On Saturday, April 2, MMB will be set up at the Reynolds Center parking lot off Jackson Street at SAU, and the schedule will be as follows:<\/p>\n

\u2022 8:30 a.m. \u2013 Check-in and breakfast
\n\u2022 9 a.m. \u2013 Pep-rally and Kick-off
\n\u2022 9:15 a.m. \u2013 Volunteering begins to complete cleanup projects
\n\u2022 11:30 a.m.-Noon \u2013 Return MMB equipment and supplies; Big Splash concludes\"MMB<\/a><\/p>\n

Two MMB events scheduled for the fall were postponed due to inclement weather. Projects for this event include cleanup on Jackson Street, CCAPS Animal Shelter, and other target areas around town.<\/p>\n

Volunteers will receive a new MMB tee-shirt that reads, \u201cDirty shirt. Clean city.\u201d To purchase a shirt for $10, or to donate to MMB, contact Deana Taylor at 870-235-4922 or DeanaTaylor@SAUmag.edu. Anyone interested in being a team leader is also encouraged to contact Taylor.<\/p>\n

Making Magnolia Blossom is a community-involvement organization at Southern Arkansas University. A group of staff, faculty, and students started MMB in 2014, and more than 500 volunteers from SAU and the community contributed time and effort at the initial Big Splash Saturday event. Since then, MMB has hosted a Spring Edition of Big Splash, as well as several Second Saturday events which partner with area organizations to complete needed projects. MMB has completed dozens of city improvement projects in its first year, and was awarded by the Arkansas Economic Development Commission the Volunteer of the Year Award as well as the Community Service Award from the Magnolia\/Columbia County Chamber of Commerce.<\/p>\n
