CAMDEN, Ark. \u2014 Dr. Corbet Lamkin has been named the new chancellor at SAU Tech in Camden.<\/p>\n
Lamkin, whose career with SAU for the past 26 years began as an agriculture economics professor and ends as a vice president of academic affairs, said it will be difficult to leave the only place he has called home for so many years, but looks forward to new opportunities and a continued partnership with his colleagues in Magnolia.<\/p>\n
\u201cI would like to thank my colleagues at SAU Magnolia for their support and graciousness over the years,\u201d Lamkin said. \u201cI look forward to working with the staff, faculty and administration of Southern Arkansas University Tech.\u201d
\nA committee will be formed to search for a new vice president for academic affairs at SAU Magnolia. In the mean time, Dr. David Crouse will become the interim vice president of academic affairs according to SAU President Dr. David Rankin.<\/p>\n
At December\u2019s SAU board of trustees meeting, Rankin expressed gratitude to outgoing SAU Tech Chancellor Dr. Steve Franks, who has headed up the college for the past two and a half years. Franks, a native of Alabama, has accepted a job at the Central Alabama Community College in Alexander City, Alabama.<\/p>\n
Rankin said he expects the positive relationship between the two campuses to continue when Lamkin begins his post this January.<\/p>\n
