Southern Arkansas University will celebrate its homecoming centennial with \u201c100 Years of Homecoming\u201d throughout the upcoming week, culminating in \"SAUSaturday\u2019s Mulegating, crowning of the king and queen, a Mulerider Football game and a Baseball Championship Ring Ceremony.<\/p>\n

SAU\u2019s campus in Magnolia is a buzz with energy this year as SAU became the fastest growing university in Arkansas, and this homecoming week is expected to
\nthrive off that excitement. Students will have daily homecoming-related activities, including a 6 p.m. Monday pep-\"SAUrally in the Greek Theatre, a Tuesday night drive-in movie at the Reynolds Center parking lot, and the popular Great SAU Campout and Bonfire Friday night.<\/p>\n

Other weekday events include the Rankin College of Business\u2019 third annual \u201cLight for the Fight\u201d ceremony at 7:30 p.m. Monday. SAU\u2019s new Tuesday night Team Study initiative will host a centralized celebration and study session in the Reynolds Center Grand Hall. Also, the 32nd<\/sup> annual Murphy Lecture will feature CNN\u2019s Christine Romans at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Harton Theatre.<\/p>\n

According to \u201cThe Mulerider School\u2019s Centennial History,\u201d the first homecoming football game in 1915 saw a \u201chard-won, 7-0 victory\u201d for SAU, then called the Third District Agriculture School (TDAS). The \u201cMagnolia Aggies,\u201d which became Muleriders in the early 1920s, defeated the Boll Weevils on a rainy Thanksgiving Day. That evening, alumni and the visiting team shared a banquet with students at the dining hall.\"SAU<\/p>\n
