MAGNOLIA, Ark. \u2014 \u201cCrimes of the Heart,\u201d a play that has been described as a southern classic, will be performed at 7 p.m. October 9, 10 and 11 in Harton Theatre at Southern Arkansas University.<\/p>\n
The Pulitzer-Prize winning play is the first play to win before being produced on Broadway. It was written by Beth Henley and set in Hazelhurst, Miss., where three sisters reunite and discover they\u2019ve all been through some grave times.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe three sisters have been apart coping with major issues and are feeling alone, but by the end they realize they are not alone because they have each other,\u201d said Lee Crouse, visiting assistant professor of acting and directing.<\/p>\n
Erin Nipper, one of the leads in the play, said she expects people to enjoy the show because of its theme of togetherness and familiarity and its enjoyable characters.<\/p>\n
\u201cThroughout learning about the show, I find myself saying, \u2018I know these
\npeople,\u2019 \u201dsaid Nipper, a junior from Magnolia majoring in psychology. \u201cIt is the perfect show for a small town.\u201d<\/p>\n
Admission for the play is $3 for students, faculty and staff and $5 for general admission. Tickets can be purchased at the door, but large groups are asked to call Crouse at 870-235-4256 so special seating arrangements may be made.
