Debbie Guevara and Mary Iverson accepted awards for SAU\u2019s two Upward Bound programs.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-3142 alignleft\" style=\"border-style: initial; border-color: initial; cursor: default; float: left; border-width: 0px;\" alt=\"SAU Upward Bound Program\" src=\"https:\/\/web.saumag.edu\/news\/files\/2013\/10\/10.30.13-Upward-Bound-2-with-2000-check-300x187.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"187\" srcset=\"https:\/\/web.saumag.edu\/news\/files\/2013\/10\/10.30.13-Upward-Bound-2-with-2000-check-300x187.jpg 300w, https:\/\/web.saumag.edu\/news\/files\/2013\/10\/10.30.13-Upward-Bound-2-with-2000-check.jpg 640w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis technology will provide students the opportunity to receive tutoring, ACT preparation and skill-building tools to help them be successful in their classes,\u201d said Eunice Walker, SAU director of student support services and executive TRiO director.<\/p>\n<p>TRiO Upward Bound and several other similar TRiO programs were originally established by the federal government in 1965 to ensure equal educational opportunity for all Americans, regardless of race, ethnic background, or economic circumstance.
