{"id":301,"date":"2005-11-16T15:11:57","date_gmt":"2005-11-16T20:11:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/news.southernarkansasuniversity.info\/2005\/11\/community-corner\/sau-plans-holiday-celebration\/301\/"},"modified":"2005-11-16T15:11:57","modified_gmt":"2005-11-16T20:11:57","slug":"sau-plans-holiday-celebration","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/web.saumag.edu\/news\/2005\/sau-plans-holiday-celebration\/","title":{"rendered":"SAU plans holiday celebration"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The \u201cWorld\u2019s Largest Holiday Candle\u201d will be lit at the annual \u201cCelebration of Lights\u201d at Southern Arkansas University, Magnolia, to be held this year on Thursday, Dec. 1.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is one of the most popular events on campus each year,\u201d said Mark Trout, director of Communications at SAU. \u201cIt\u2019s certainly one of the most popular events with members of area communities.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Celebration of Lights will be held in conjunction with the Magnolia Christmas parade which begins at 5 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>Caroling, led by the SAU choir, begins at 6 p.m. on the front steps of Overstreet Hall on the SAU campus. The carolers will be accompanied by the SAU and Magnolia High School bands.<\/p>\n<p>Following the lighting of Overstreet Hall, sponsored by the Residence Hall Association, carolers will lead the way to the Reynolds Center Plaza where everyone can watch the lighting of the SAU Bell Tower, which is decorated each year to look like a giant holiday candle. The candle is \u201clit\u201d for the first time each year during the Celebration of Lights.
