{"id":28,"date":"2006-02-08T12:10:10","date_gmt":"2006-02-08T17:10:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/news.southernarkansasuniversity.info\/2006\/02\/academics\/lpa\/art\/sau-exhibits-%e2%80%9cdrawings-and-prints-of-american-regionalism%e2%80%9d\/28\/"},"modified":"2006-02-08T12:10:10","modified_gmt":"2006-02-08T17:10:10","slug":"sau-exhibits-%e2%80%9cdrawings-and-prints-of-american-regionalism%e2%80%9d","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/web.saumag.edu\/news\/2006\/sau-exhibits-%e2%80%9cdrawings-and-prints-of-american-regionalism%e2%80%9d\/","title":{"rendered":"SAU exhibits \u201cDrawings and Prints of American Regionalism\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In celebration of the heartland, an exhibition of works by the best-known artists of the 1920s to 1940s will be on display through the end of February in the Brinson Fine Art Gallery on the campus of Southern Arkansas University, Magnolia.<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cDrawings and Prints of American Regionalism\u201d exhibition is being sponsored by the Department of Art and Design and the Rosemary Rhea Arts in Education Center and Gallery.<\/p>\n<p>Prints and drawings from such notable artists as Grant Wood, Milton Avery, and Thomas Hart Benton are included in this exhibition.<\/p>\n<p>Regionalism refers to the work of a group of artists, mostly from the Midwest, who were trained in modernist styles yet chose the work in idiosyncratic styles with a fondness for depicting everyday rural life and the American landscape.<\/p>\n<p>School groups and classes are encouraged to attend.
