{"id":245,"date":"2005-12-14T12:49:45","date_gmt":"2005-12-14T17:49:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/news.southernarkansasuniversity.info\/2005\/12\/academics\/scholarships\/six-girls-to-vie-for-miss-sau-title\/245\/"},"modified":"2005-12-14T12:49:45","modified_gmt":"2005-12-14T17:49:45","slug":"six-girls-to-vie-for-miss-sau-title","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/web.saumag.edu\/news\/2005\/six-girls-to-vie-for-miss-sau-title\/","title":{"rendered":"Six girls to vie for Miss SAU title"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Six young ladies will compete for scholarship money as they vie for the title of Miss SAU 2006.<\/p>\n<p>The Miss SAU Scholarship Pageant will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 20, on the stage of Harton Theater on the campus of Southern Arkansas University, Magnolia.<br \/>\nThe winner of the pageant will receive two full semesters of tuition; first runner up will claim one full semester tuition; and the second runner up and talent winner will receive a $400 scholarship.<\/p>\n<p>Those seeking the Miss SAU title include:<\/p>\n<p>Joni Sue Bridges is the daughter of Joe and Ceil Bridges of Magnolia. She is a 2003 graduate of Magnolia High School and is a senior early childhood education major. Her talent will be an acro\/jazz routine to \u201cRight Type of Mood.\u201d Bridges plans to graduate with a master\u2019s degree in elementary education counseling and continue being a role model for children.<\/p>\n<p>Jennifer Lynn Turner is the daughter of Tommy Turner and Rosalina Turner of Texarkana. She is a 2004 graduate of Arkansas High School and is a sophomore music education major. Her talent will be a lyrical dance to the song \u201cEvery Moment.\u201d After graduation, Turner plans to move to New York City and pursue a career as a professional dancer. Afterward, she hopes to open a fine arts studio and offer training in all areas of dance as well as areas of musical training.<\/p>\n<p>Desirae\u2019 La\u2019Sha Walker is the daughter of Wanda S. Esters of Nashville. She is a 2002 graduate of Nashville High School and is a junior marketing major. She will sing for her talent. Her ambition is to graduate college and pursue a master\u2019s degree. She also wants to get married and have at least three children. Her goal is to make enough money to be able to give her children the things she couldn\u2019t. She also wants to take care of her parents.<br \/>\nBrigette La\u2019Kimyia Biley is the daughter of Sam and Rose Biley of Magnolia. She is a 2001 graduate of Magnolia High School and a senior mathematics education major. Her talent will be singing \u201cHeaven.\u201d Biley plans to attend an accredited historical black college to earn her master\u2019s in counseling degree so she can be a diverse math teacher. Her long term goal is to become a successful model.<\/p>\n<p>Vanessa Michelle Johnson is the daughter of Freddie and Ye Juanda Sargent of Magnolia. She is a 2005 graduate of Magnolia High School and is a freshman accounting and finance double major. Her talent will be singing \u201cHold On.\u201d Her future plans include promoting society by contributing her efforts to the well-being of children, her peers, and others whose future is in her hands.<\/p>\n<p>Amanda Christine Haynes is the daughter of John and Susan Haynes of Magnolia. She is a 2004 graduate of Emerson High School and is a sophomore animal sciences major. Her talent will be dancing.
