More than 130 nurses, students, and faculty participated in a workshop hosted by the Department of Nursing at Southern Arkansas University and sponsored by the Arkansas State Board of Nursing.<\/p>\n
\u201cNursing 2005: What Every Nurse Should Know\u201d discussed topics including impairment in nursing, legislation 2005, bringing out the leader in all of us, and professional vs. unprofessional conduct.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe ASBN travels throughout the state to talk about laws that affect the nursing profession,\u201d said Dr. Golden Tradewell, chair of the Department. \u201cThey tell us things we need to keep up to date with.\u201d<\/p>\n
Faith Fields, executive director, was the speaker.<\/p>\n
Nurses from long-term health, mental health institutions, and hospitals attended the one-day workshop.<\/p>\n
\u201cI believe the state board was very impressed with our facilities and turn out for this workshop,\u201d said Tradewell. \u201cWe hope they come back in the future to present more informative workshops.\u201d<\/p>\n
The mission of the board of nursing is to protect the public and act as their advocate by effectively regulating the practice of nursing.
