The facility is located behind Goodheart Field on the SAU campus, and the public is invited to attend.<\/p>\n<p>The Strength Training Center provides a place for the University\u2019s athletic teams to conduct strength training and conditioning. Teams previously conducted this training in a World War II-era motor pool building. That facility was demolished as part of the Mulerider Activity Center construction, and teams have temporarily been training in an area that was formerly the University\u2019s cafeteria.<\/p>\n<p>The new Strength Training Center was constructed at a cost of $741,703. At approximately 5,000 square feet, it houses a large weight room, restrooms, and an office.<\/p>\n<p>A private donation through the SAU Foundation has provided $150,000 to outfit the facility. All new strength training equipment has been purchased and security and sound systems have been installed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is not only going to help the players that we have now, but it\u2019s going to help with recruits,\u201d said Interim Director of Athletics Steve Browning. \u201cWhen recruits go somewhere, they want to know that they\u2019re going somewhere they can get bigger and stronger.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_2070\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/web.saumag.edu\/news\/files\/2012\/02\/wtc01.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2070\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-2070\" src=\"https:\/\/web.saumag.edu\/news\/files\/2012\/02\/wtc01-300x199.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"199\" srcset=\"https:\/\/web.saumag.edu\/news\/files\/2012\/02\/wtc01-300x199.jpg 300w, https:\/\/web.saumag.edu\/news\/files\/2012\/02\/wtc01.jpg 640w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-2070\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">An inside view of the Strength Training Center<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Browning said that the new Samson weights in the Strength Training Center will include some pieces that SAU has not previously owned and will be superior to strength training equipment at other universities in the region.
