{"id":1912,"date":"2011-10-25T09:37:38","date_gmt":"2011-10-25T14:37:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/web.saumag.edu\/news\/?p=1912"},"modified":"2011-10-25T09:37:38","modified_gmt":"2011-10-25T14:37:38","slug":"phi-beta-lambda-seeks-diaper-donations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/web.saumag.edu\/news\/2011\/phi-beta-lambda-seeks-diaper-donations\/","title":{"rendered":"Phi Beta Lambda seeks diaper donations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>MAGNOLIA<\/strong> <strong>\u2013<\/strong> For the second consecutive year, students from the Southern Arkansas University College of Business will be seeking donations of diapers to meet the need of families in Columbia County.<\/p>\n<p>Members of Phi Beta Lambda collected more than 4,200 diapers in the \u201cEvery Little Bottom\u201d diaper drive in 2010. According to the organization, one in three American mothers struggle to provide diapers for their babies. There is a reported 1.2 million diaper deficit in Arkansas alone.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is the second year we\u2019ve been involved and we are sponsoring a competition in Magnolia to recognize the community organization, campus organization, and individual who donates the most diapers,\u201d said Traci Hughes, instructor of business and PBL advisor.\u00a0 \u201cBut the real reason for the drive is to get diapers to people who really need them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>SAU PBL\u2019s Diaper Drive started on October 1, 2011 and will culminate with a diaper drop-off day on Monday, Oct. 31, from 10:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. in the Reynolds Center Plaza.\u00a0 Last year, thirteen organizations and countless individuals helped with the drive.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe got involved because we knew it would be something that will directly impact our community and campus,\u201d said Hughes.<\/p>\n<p>In October 2010, SAU PBL was the first non-profit student service organization in the state to hold an organized diaper drive benefiting the newly established Arkansas Diaper Depot.\u00a0 To learn more about the Arkansas Diaper Depot visit ricedepot.org.<\/p>\n<p>Phi Beta Lambda is the post-secondary division of Future Business Leaders of America.\u00a0 Membership is open to all students.\u00a0 For more information about PBL, contact the SAU-PBL chapter at (870) 235-4298.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MAGNOLIA \u2013 For the second consecutive year, students from the Southern Arkansas University College of Business will be seeking donations of diapers to meet the need of families in Columbia County.
