The lecture will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 20, in Harton Theatre.<\/p>\n<p>Lashinsky is a well-respected business journalist and commentator with special expertise in finance and technology. An insider to Silicon Valley, he has written articles on Apple, Google, eBay, Hewlett-Packard, and Intel. He also has a clear-headed, New York perspective on Wall Street, and has covered hedge funds, venture capital, private equity, and the post-Katrina economic recovery of New Orleans.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are pleased to have Adam Lashinsky serve as our guest speaker for this year\u2019s Murphy Lecture,\u201d said Dr. Lisa Toms, dean of the College of Business at SAU. \u201cAdam is known worldwide for his work on Fox News and with <em>Fortune<\/em> magazine. His lecture should prove interesting and enlightening.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Lashinsky has broad experience in both broadcast and print media.<\/p>\n<p>He is a weekly panelist on the Fox News Channel\u2019s program <em>Cavuto on Business<\/em> and appears frequently throughout the week on other Fox News and Fox Business Network programs<\/p>\n<p>Before joining <em>Fortune<\/em>, he was the Silicon Valley columnist for TheStreet.com and was the first high-tech stocks columnist for the <em>San Jose Mercury News<\/em>. He has been a reporter and assistant managing editor for <em>Crain\u2019s Chicago Business<\/em> and was a Henry Luce Scholar in Tokyo, working as a reporter for the <em>Nikkei Weekly<\/em>, the English-language version of Japan\u2019s main economic daily, <em>Nihon Keizai Shimbun<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Lashinsky\u2019s work has also appeared in <em>The New York Times<\/em>, <em>Wired<\/em>, <em>San Francisco Magazine<\/em>, and many other publications. He interviews for a video series on Fortune.com titled \u201cConnected with Adam Lashinsky.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Recently, Lashinsky moderated a panel at the World Economic Forum in Davos titled \u201cCreating a Digital Nervous System.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Murphy Lecture is free and open to the public.
