MAGNOLIA \u2014 The College of Business at Southern Arkansas University recently sponsored its annual \u201cClassroom to Careers\u201d day. The event is designed to provide students an opportunity to interact with recent graduates who are now full-time members of the workforce.<\/p>\n

The \u201cClassroom to Careers Conference\u201d began in 1978 under Southern Arkansas University President Dr. David Rankin who was then dean of the College of Business. The program has morphed over the years in an effort to meet the needs of current students, and according to Dr. Lisa Toms, current dean of the College of Business, it will remain a part of the College\u2019s to give students a chance to hear from former students who have gone on to have successful careers in their fields.<\/p>\n

On November 10, 14 guest speakers helped make Classroom to Careers <\/em>a success.\u00a0 The speakers included:\u00a0 Paul Considine, retired employee of Amfuel and former director for the SAU Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center; Ryan Lenihan, Murphy USA; Sam Ogle, Murphy Oil, Inc; Crystal (Easterling) Bohannan, administrator of the Surgery Center at Jefferson Regional Medical Center; Michael Woods, SAU assistant director of housing for community development and Fincher Hall director; Paula Kinard, Arkansas Department of Legislative Audit; Kelli (Waller) Sawyer, Ben E. Keith Foods; Jonathan Baird, Mustard Seed Financial Advisors; Jessica Haynes, Haynes Holding Company; Bryan Smith, CMC Steel; Brian Ettehad, Frazier Frost; Evelyn Wade, Farmers Bank and Trust; Faith Stewart, Farmers Bank and Trust; Kristina Treadway, Discover Financial Services; and Gary Hickson, SAU assistant director of Information Technology Services.<\/p>\n
