The doors will open at 6:30 p.m. each evening. Tickets are $5 for general admission and $3 for SAU students, faculty and staff. They may be purchased at the Harton Theatre box office or advanced general admission tickets can be purchased at Cosmopolitan Ladies Club and Studio 2204 Salon.<\/p>\n<p><em>Steel Magnolias<\/em> is a comedy\/drama play about the bond among a group of southern women in northwest Louisiana. The story begins with Shelby\u2019s wedding to Jackson and covers events over the next three years, including Shelby\u2019s decision to have a child despite having Type 1diabetes. There is also a glimpse of the unlikely friendship between Clairee and Ouiser; Annelle\u2019s transformation from a shy, anxious newcomer in town to a good-time girl and then to a revival-tent Christian; and Truvy\u2019s relationships with the men in her family. Although the main storyline involves Shelby, her mother and Shelby\u2019s battles, the underlying group friendship among all six women is prominent throughout the drama.<\/p>\n<p>The play is being directed by Janet Rider-Babbitt, executive director of Magnolia Arts, and is suitable for the entire family.
