{"id":152,"date":"2006-11-30T14:34:57","date_gmt":"2006-11-30T19:34:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/news.southernarkansasuniversity.info\/2006\/11\/academics\/lpa\/sau-to-present-concert-by-chamber-musicians\/152\/"},"modified":"2006-11-30T14:34:57","modified_gmt":"2006-11-30T19:34:57","slug":"sau-to-present-concert-by-chamber-musicians","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/web.saumag.edu\/news\/2006\/sau-to-present-concert-by-chamber-musicians\/","title":{"rendered":"SAU to present concert by chamber musicians"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Performing Arts Series at Southern Arkansas University, Magnolia, will present the Rockefeller String Quartet in concert at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 5, in Oliver Recital Hall in Camp Hall on the University campus.<\/p>\n<p>The quartet of musicians, all members of the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra, will perform Haydn\u2019s Quartet in D Major, nicknamed the \u201cLark,\u201d and George Crumb\u2019s \u201cBlack Angels.\u201d The latter work is most distinctive, having been composed in 1969-70, near the end of the Vietnam War era, and reflects the tensions of that time.<\/p>\n<p>The musicians will perform on amplified string instruments as well as a variety of percussion instruments.
