MAGNOLIA \u2013 James E. Reppert, associate professor of mass communication at Southern Arkansas University, has been competitively selected for participation in the Poynter Institute for Media Studies \u201cMultimedia Journalism for College Educators\u201d faculty seminar, to be held July 19-23 in St. Petersburg, Fla.<\/p>\n
Reppert is one of 20 educators who will discuss their implementation and use of multimedia technology and online resources into communication courses.\u00a0 During the seminar, faculty will also analyze journalism ethics, curricula, and create slideshows for future media lectures by shooting and editing video and audio.<\/p>\n
Reppert has made more than 100 presentations at regional and national conventions of professional associations.\u00a0 He has served as a manuscript reviewer for 20 college textbooks in mass communication, broadcast journalism, and speech, and he has been selected to participate in 19 faculty media seminars.\u00a0 His students have produced hundreds of university television interview and radio news programs as a public service.<\/p>\n
Reppert received the 2009-10 Presidential Award for Communication Excellence from the Kentucky Communication Association for career achievements in teaching, scholarship, and community service.\u00a0 He is a two-time KCA Teacher of the Year (2000-01 and 2006-07), Scholar of the Year (1997-98), and Undergraduate Mentor of the Year (2007-08), the first out-of-state educator to receive each award.<\/p>\n
A member of the SAU faculty since 1987, Reppert holds a bachelor\u2019s degree in university studies from North Dakota State University and a master\u2019s degree in communication studies from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
