Dr. Eddie Glaude<\/p><\/div>\n

MAGNOLIA \u2014 Dr. Eddie S. Glaude of Princeton University will deliver the spring 2010 installment of the Kathleen Mallory Distinguished Lecture Series at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 15, in Foundation Hall of the Donald W. Reynolds Campus and Community Center at Southern Arkansas University. The lecture will be titled “Where do we go from here? Race in the age of Obama.\u201d<\/p>\n

Following the lecture, a reception to honor Dr. Mallory on the occasion of her retirement will take place in Room 205 of the Reynolds Center.<\/p>\n

Glaude is chair of the Center for African American Studies and the William S. Tod Professor of Religion and African American Studies at Princeton University. He is also a senior fellow at the Jamestown Project at Harvard University. Widely regarded as one of the brightest young intellectuals in the U.S. today, Glaude offers a critical and insightful view on the problems currently facing black America as well as the nation at large.\u00a0 He is the author of several books.\u00a0 His latest award winning book, \u201cIn a Shade of Blue: Pragmatism and the Politics of Black America,\u201d has been characterized as a tour de force \u2013 establishing him as \u201cone of the most visionary thinkers of our time.\u201d According to Cornel West, \u201cEddie Glaude is the towering intellectual of his generation. There is simply no one else like him emerging on the intellectual scene!\u201d<\/p>\n

Born on the coast of Mississippi, in a small town called Moss Point, Glaude brings to his scholarship and public service a sense of passion and vocation shaped by the tradition of African American struggle. As a graduate of Morehouse College, he was inspired by the courage and devotion of Martin Luther King, Jr., the institution\u2019s most famous graduate. Currently, Glaude is a regular commentator on the Tavis Smiley Show from PRI. He has been a guest on radio shows ranging from the Brian Lehrer Show on WNYC to Mildred Gaddis\u2019s show, Inside Detroit.\u00a0 Glaude has also appeared on Hannity and Colmes as well as Tavis Smiley on PBS. With each appearance, Glaude seeks to prod and provoke, to insist and incite, and to encourage and embolden fellow citizens to rise to the profound challenges of the day.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
