MAGNOLIA – Southern Arkansas University will host the 2010 Southwest Arkansas Training and Resource Fair on April 15-16 in the Grand Hall of the Donald W. Reynolds Campus and Community Center. The event will bring organizations from across the state to Magnolia to help familiarize participants with the resources, services, and opportunities available through the Title IV-E program.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe purpose of the Southwest Arkansas Resource and Training Fair is to provide local, quality, and affordable training,\u201d said Stephany Morris, field instructor for Title IV-E. \u201cOftentimes professionals have to travel outside of their communities to obtain training.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Resource and Training Fair will feature nationally recognized gang researcher and educator Steve Nawojczyk. As one of the most sought after educators on juvenile violence and gangs, Nawojczk’s work has been featured on various television specials.<\/p>\n
The conference will also have several workshops focusing on topics from adolescent drug treatment to working relationships. Certificates of attendance will be given for each workshop attended.<\/p>\n
By bringing resources together it will be easier for people to familiarize themselves with what is available for their clients. \u201cThe training is expected to fill a need in the community,\u201d Morris said. \u201cIt is hoped that many people will come out and take advantage of the opportunity to gain information that may be helpful in their professional or personal lives.\u201d<\/p>\n
