Southern Arkansas University has been recognized as a Purple Star Campus by the Arkansas Department of Education and the Arkansas Division of Higher Education, honoring the University\u2019s commitment to serving military-connected students and families.<\/p>\n
The Purple Star Campus designation recognizes colleges and universities that demonstrate a strong commitment to supporting military-affiliated students through resources, programming, and campus engagement. Institutions earning the recognition must meet standards related to military student support services, communication, campus resources, and community partnerships.<\/p>\n

The Purple Star Campus initiative highlights institutions that create welcoming and supportive environments for military-connected students, including active-duty service members, veterans, reservists, National Guard members, and military families.<\/p>\n
SAU offers a variety of services and resources for military-affiliated students, including admissions and enrollment assistance, academic advising, financial aid support, and connections to campus and community resources. Through SAU\u2019s Veterans Resource Office, located in Nelson Hall, military-connected students can also receive assistance with VA education benefits, enrollment certification, educational checklists, study space, and support designed to help veterans and their families successfully transition to and thrive in college life.<\/p>\n
\u201cAt SAU, we work closely with our military-connected students to help make the transition to college as smooth as possible and ensure they have the support they need every step of the way,\u201d said Keisha Crisp, assistant registrar and Veterans Affairs School Certifying Official. \u201cFrom helping students navigate VA education benefits to connecting them with campus resources, we are committed to serving those who have served our country.\u201d<\/p>\n
The recognition aligns with SAU\u2019s ongoing commitment to student success, access, and service to the region and nation.<\/p>\n
