Dr. John Scott, associate professor of economics at Southern Arkansas University, Magnolia, recently had his paper accepted by the Journal of Business Administration Online.<\/p>\n
In the paper, \u201cPrices Reflect Vendor Differences: The Case of Handheld Computers on CNET,\u201d Scott shows that physically identical products sold by different sellers on an Internet shopping site have different prices because the sellers provide different services to the customer.<\/p>\n
This paper used data from online shopping sites to measure the effect that Scott had previously theorized would exist in his earlier paper, \u201cElectronic Commerce Encourages Differentiation,\u201d which was published in the Journal of Internet Commerce. It was co-authored by Ruth Miller, associate professor of computer information systems at the University of Louisiana at Monroe.<\/p>\n
Scott also serves as director of the Center for Economic Education and Research.<\/p>\n
His publication interests include economic education, terrorism, e-commerce, and real estate. He received his B.B.A. in economics from the University of Louisiana at Monroe and his Ph.D. in economics from the University of South Carolina.
