SAU\u2019s delegation, comprising of faculty members and students from the social work department, made a significant impact throughout the conference, showcasing the institution\u2019s commitment to excellence in social work education and practice. Faculty members in attendance were Mercedes Ray, Cortney Sherman, and Catiya Welch.\u00a0 Three social work students, Alexis Hayes, La’Kiya Jackson, and Diamond Muldrow, also participated in the conference.<\/p>\n Among the highlights of SAU\u2019s participation was the presentation of research and posters by Muldrow and Jackson. These students were able to share and shed light on critical issues within the realm of social work. Jackson presented her work \u201cExploring Depression and Coping Among College Students:\u00a0 Implementing STAND as a Treatment Option,\u201d which was selected as the 2024 Best Innovative Program award.\u00a0 Muldrow was equally successful as her work \u201cKnowledge and Prevention of Sexual Transmitted Infections Among Rural College Students\u201d was awarded the 2024 Best of Bachelors of Social Work Policy Research.\u00a0 Hayes also presented her research entitled, \u201cReligiosity Among College Students.\u201d<\/p>\n The conference provided an invaluable opportunity for SAU representatives to engage in scholarly discussions, attend informative workshops, and network with esteemed professionals from across the state. SAU\u2019s successful participation highlights its ongoing efforts to empower students and faculty members to actively engage in positive change in their communities.<\/p>\n Southern Arkansas University provides students with the complete college experience in a caring environment of service, innovation, and community.
