Southern Arkansas University Associate Professor\u00a0James E. Reppert Receives Communication Award <\/span><\/h1>\n

MAGNOLIA\u2014<\/span>James E. Reppert, associate professor of mass communication at Southern Arkansas University, received the Presidential Award for Communication Excellence at the Kentucky Communication Association Convention, held September 11-12 at Kenlake State Resort Park, Hardin, Kentucky.<\/span><\/span><\/h1>\n

The award is not given every year.\u00a0 <\/span>The Kentucky Communication Association president and executive council select a recipient following special nominations from members.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Dr. Carl Kell, KCA president and professor of communication at Western Kentucky University, made the presentation during the awards luncheon.\u00a0 <\/span>He cited Reppert for career achievements in teaching, scholarship, and community service.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Reppert has made more than 100 presentations at regional and national conventions of professional associations, and served as a manuscript reviewer for 19 college textbooks in mass communication, broadcast journalism (writing and production), and speech. His mass communication students have produced hundreds of university television interview and radio news programs as a public service.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Reppert is a two-time KCA Teacher of the Year (2000-01 and 2006-07), Scholar of the Year (1997-98), and Undergraduate Mentor of the Year (2007-08), the first out-of-state educator to receive each award. He currently teaches Introduction to Public Speaking, Advanced Public Speaking, Argumentation and Debate, and Introduction to Mass Communication.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Reppert has been competitively selected for 18 faculty seminars in media and communication, including the Poynter Institute for Media Studies \u201cMultimedia Journalism for College Educators\u201d seminar, to be held in February in St. Petersburg, Florida.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

A member of the SAU faculty since 1987, Reppert holds a bachelor’s degree in\u00a0university studies\u00a0from North Dakota State University and a master’s\u00a0degree in communication studies\u00a0from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
