Dr. Terrye Stinson began her teaching career at SAU in 1980 and has served as a faculty member, department chair and Dean of the Rankin College of Business. She earned her undergraduate degree at Southern State College (now SAU) and went on to earn her MBA and DBA at Louisiana Tech University. Stinson has been involved in many campus initiatives, including leadership for the College’s initial AACSB accreditation in 2005 and leadership on the SAU Higher Learning Commission accreditation team from 2013-2016. Since 2013, Stinson has held the rank of Distinguished Professor of Accounting at SAU, and she has held the Blanchard Professorship in Accounting since 2000. She was honored by her peers as the 1993-1994 SAU Honor Professor.
In addition to helping numerous students enter into an accounting career, Dr. Stinson served as the advisor for Phi Beta Lambda for ten years and is a life-time member of the FBLA-Phi Beta Lambda professional division. In 2018, Dr. Stinson was selected for the FBLA-PBL Adviser Wall of Fame.
Beyond the SAU campus, Dr. Stinson is an active member of the Arkansas Society of CPAs where she has served on the board of directors and on many committees. She was recognized by the Arkansas Society as the Outstanding Accounting Educator for 2005. Dr. Stinson has been a board member on the Arkansas Society’s Student Education Fund for 12 years and served as president for 2012 to 2017. She is also an active member and former officer of the South Arkansas Chapter of CPAs. In 2004 Stinson was appointed by Governor Mike Huckabee to the Arkansas State Board of Public Accountancy; she served on the state board for 5 years and was president of the board in 2009.
