Who is the MAT program designed for?<\/b><\/h5>

The MAT program is designed for individuals who are working toward their first teaching license. It\u2019s a great fit for career changers as well as those following a passion for education. You don\u2019t need prior teaching experience, only a bachelor\u2019s degree in any field.<\/p>

How long does it take to complete the program?<\/b><\/h5>

The program can be completed in as little as 5 academic terms, allowing you to earn both your master\u2019s degree and initial teaching license at the same time.<\/span><\/p>

Can I work\/teach while completing the program?<\/b><\/h5>

Absolutely! Most MAT candidates teach on a provisional license while completing coursework, allowing you to earn an income and gain hands-on classroom experience.<\/span><\/p>

What subjects or grade levels can I teach after completing the MAT?<\/b><\/h5>

Your teaching license will depend on your area of focus. Our program prepares candidates for a range of grade levels and subjects.<\/span><\/p>

Is the program online, in-person, or hybrid?<\/b><\/h5>

Do I need a background in education to apply?<\/b><\/h5>

No. The program is open to individuals from all academic and professional backgrounds.<\/p>

What are the admission requirements?<\/b><\/h5>

Applicants need a bachelor\u2019s degree in any field, along with a minimum GPA and proof of basic skills proficiency in reading, writing, and math. You can find the full list of admission requirements and details about the application process on the Admission Requirements page.<\/p>

Can I be admitted without passing content exam scores?<\/b><\/h5>

Yes. If you meet all other admission requirements, you may be admitted and allowed to take up to 6 credit hours before passing your content exam.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Licensure & Support<\/b><\/h3>
Will I receive help with the licensure process?<\/b><\/h5>

Yes. One of the strengths of our program is the personalized support we provide. Your advisor works directly with you to make sure you complete every step required for licensure.<\/p>

Does the program require a teaching component?<\/b><\/h5>

Yes. All MAT candidates must complete a year-long internship as part of the program. Most meet this requirement by teaching on a provisional license while completing their degree. If you aren\u2019t hired or prefer another option, we can arrange a placement where you teach alongside a highly qualified mentor at a school near you. State law requires this year-long teaching experience to earn licensure.<\/p>
