A degree in criminal justice prepares students to work in law enforcement, private investigations, corrections, and the juvenile justice system.<\/p><ul><li><a href=\"https:\/\/web.saumag.edu\/lpa\/depts\/bss\/criminal-justice-academic-goals\/\">Criminal Justice Program Goals<\/a><\/li><\/ul><h3><strong>Cyber Criminology<\/strong><\/h3><p>The Bachelor of Science in Cyber Criminology will produce highly skilled graduates who possess a holistic understanding of cybercrimes. This program not only emphasizes using computer science skills to investigate and study crime, but underscores theoretical human behaviors and victimization patterns that relate to cybercrimes.<\/p><p>A multidisciplinary field, cyber criminology includes research from social sciences areas including criminology, victimology, and skills and abilities from computer science. Cyber criminology utilizes computer sciences to study and understand cybercrime from the perspective of the social sciences.<\/p><ul><li><a href=\"https:\/\/web.saumag.edu\/lpa\/cyber-criminology-program-goals\/\">Cyber Criminology Program Goals<\/a><\/li><\/ul><h3>Emergency Management<\/h3><div>The Bachelor of Science in Emergency Management equips students with the knowledge and skills critical to homeland security and emergency management, including related technology, incident command, and infrastructure protection. The program is geared toward new students and students transferring from related fields such as policing, fire science, and emergency medical technicians (EMTs), and prepares graduates for leadership roles in managing crisis situations.<\/div><ul><li><a href=\"https:\/\/web.saumag.edu\/lpa\/files\/2026\/01\/EmergengyManagementFlyer.pdf\">This major is launching in Fall 2026<\/a><\/li><\/ul><h3>Psychology<\/h3><p>A psychology degree qualifies a person to work in mental health care centers, child and family welfare agencies, law enforcement offices, industries (personnel work), various social work agencies, churches, and private consulting firms.<\/p><ul><li><span style=\"line-height: 13px;\"><a title=\"Department of Psychology: Academic Goals\" href=\"https:\/\/web.saumag.edu\/lpa\/depts\/bss\/psychology-academic-goals\/\">Psychology Program Goals<\/a><br \/><\/span><\/li><\/ul><h3><a href=\"https:\/\/web.saumag.edu\/socialwork\/\">Social Work<\/a><\/h3><p>The mission of the social work program at Southern Arkansas University is to graduate students from diverse backgrounds who will be well prepared to launch their careers as competent generalist practitioners as well as continue their education at the graduate level.
