Archery<\/td>\nThis course is designed to teach the Basic Instruction of Archery and application. There will be competitive shooting with games and prizes. If the student already owns a bow, they are encouraged to bring it to class.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Art of Cooking<\/td>\nThe Art of Cooking is a basic cooking class for teens that will explore a wide variety of cooking methods. Students will cook on the stove top, grill, and in the oven. Students will also have an opportunity to bring home a variety of recipes and experience the joy of cooking from scratch.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Babysitting Basics<\/td>\nHave you ever thought about starting your own babysitting business?\u00a0 In this class, students will gain confidence in caring for younger children and be prepared to handle various situations they may encounter.\u00a0 They will learn about the development stages of children and create appropriate activities to have in their sitter bag for entertainment. We will cover first aide and how to handle emergencies and keep children safe. At the end of class, students will get to create an advertisement for their new babysitting venture and learn how to get hired!<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Basically Batik<\/td>\nIn this art class, students will learn about Batik, an art form that originated in Indonesia.\u00a0 They will create their own Batik artwork with a modified twist!<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Creative Art<\/td>\nJoin us and let your imagination dance across the canvas!\u00a0 In this class, students will use various items and techniques to have fun and create an unique painting each day!<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Dissection is Fun<\/td>\nAre you interested in a career in the medical field?\u00a0 In this class, students will learn about organs, including their structure and function.\u00a0 This class will involve the dissection of eyeballs, hearts, brains, kidneys, and mice.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Engineering in Agriculture<\/td>\nDid you know that engineering plays an important role in the agriculture industry?\u00a0 From the construction of barns and other facilities to operating computer software for a major agriculture company, engineering is infused into everyday activities. In this class we will look at the different roles that engineering has in agriculture and learn about the role it plays in everyday life.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Experiencing Ceramics<\/td>\nJoin us in Experiencing Ceramics as students learn what it takes to become a sculptor!\u00a0 Working in clay, whether through hand-building or throwing on the potter’s wheel, can lead to paths in fine art as well as commercial design. In this class, students will design and create their own piece of pottery and will be able to take it home with them.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Farm to Table<\/td>\nDo you wonder how the food you eat gets from the farm to your plate?\u00a0 If the answer is yes, then join us on an exciting journey where students will learn to make ice cream from milk and butter from cream.\u00a0 They will learn where their steaks come from and how the cow converts grass to milk and brisket.\u00a0 Students must wear tennis shoes and be willing to possibly get dirty.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Future Teachers<\/td>\nThink you have what it takes to be a teacher?\u00a0 Join us if you are up for the challenge!\u00a0 In this class, students will get a glimpse into lesson planning and classroom management.\u00a0 At the end of the course, students will be able to teach a lesson to their peers.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Graphic Design is So Radical<\/td>\nIn this course, students will be introduced to the increasingly popular art media of graphic design.\u00a0 Students will work throughout the week on a project that they can take home and share with their family and friends.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Great Escape<\/td>\nEach day students will work to escape a challenge through tasks.\u00a0 They will work as a team with tasks within each challenge, using clues and materials provided.\u00a0 They will learn how to be great detectives, and think creatively to complete each task within the challenge.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
How It’s Made<\/td>\nAre you interested in Engineering?\u00a0 Have you ever wondered how things are made?\u00a0 In this class, students will discuss how various objects are made and also construct their own creations using an assortment of engineering machinery.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Intro to Pickleball<\/td>\nIntro to pickleball helps show how hobbies can improve overall health including mental health, social health, mood, and physical health.\u00a0 Pickleball is a blend of ping pong, badminton, and tennis.\u00a0 It is fun, easy to learn and can develop into a quick and competitive game.\u00a0 In this class, we will cover rules and game play.\u00a0 Come have fun and learn the sport of Pickleball!<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Lasers in Biology<\/td>\nDid you know lasers are used for a wide variety of purposes, including examining the number and size of the droplets formed when you talk, sneeze or cough?\u00a0\u00a0 In this class we will use a high powered laser to show some basic principles of laser’s and how they are used in the world of biology. We will also utilize the laser to perform an experiment looking at respiratory droplets.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Newton’s Three Laws in Action<\/td>\nRockets, skateboards and cars…what do these things have in common?\u00a0 Their function is all related to Physics!\u00a0 In this class, students will learn to understand physics and Newton’s Three Laws through hands-on, fun activities.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Pickleball 2<\/td>\nPickleball 2 is for students who took Intro to Pickleball in 2021 or are familiar with this fast-growing sport!\u00a0 Students will review pickleball skills and rules and will build on their skills through drills and game play.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Plant and Soil Science<\/td>\nThis class will introduce students to plant anatomy and the components of soil.\u00a0 Class activities will include edible soil layers and dissection of live flowers.\u00a0 If you are interested in a career as a forester, botanist, ecologist, or environmental scientist, this class is for you!<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Scuba Diving<\/td>\nThis class introduces kids to scuba diving along with the safety aspects, science behind scuba and the care and handling of equipment. Student will get into pool on the last day.\u00a0 Appropriate forms will need to be completed prior to getting into the water.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Sound Effects and Soundtracks<\/td>\nIn this class, we will discus how Hollywood creates all of the sounds that you hear during major motion pictures and tv shows. We will also examine original music scores.\u00a0 Join us as we create our own sounds that can be used in movies by using various objects, including food.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Stitching Together<\/td>\nEver wanted to learn cross-stitch or up-cycle clothes by adding embroidery details? This class will teach you just that. You’ll learn methods on how to make the basic cross-stitch, add embroidery details to clothes, and tips and tricks along the way.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Stress Less<\/td>\nOur world is full of “stresses”.\u00a0 We can’t guarantee a Stress-Free environment, but we can learn to Stress Less.\u00a0 In this class, students will learn fun ways to cope with stress, work through sadness, manage frustration, and more.\u00a0 Join us to learn how to create more confidence and hope so your “Salty Moods” don’t “Ooze Out” (in not so nice ways) onto the people around you!<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Teen Entrepreneur<\/td>\nWithin this class, students will be introduced to the concept of entrepreneurship. They will be given an opportunity to brainstorm business ideas, create a simple budget and marketing plan and launch their small business on \u201cshark tank\u201d.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Veterinary Science: Caring for Animals<\/td>\nAre you drawn to the world of furry, scaly, and feathered friends? In this class, students will learn how to safely handle and examine animals, how to give animals injections, and then have the opportunity to practice what they learned on a live animal with the assistance of a local veterinarian.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Yoga and Fitness<\/td>\nYoga is an excellent way to introduce fitness to teens and can be a great calming tool.\u00a0 This class will introduce students to yoga and its benefits.\u00a0 Students will learn how yoga can help with mobility, stability, strength, and mental wellness.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Buen Provecho<\/td>\nCultivate culinary skills and learn how to prepare dishes from different Spanish-speaking countries in this class! Students will learn delicious recipes, expand their cooking skills, and enjoy their culinary creations.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Careers in Biology<\/td>\nWhat is a Biologist and what do they do? Join us to find out! Students will be introduced to major fields of Biology, conduct research, and present their findings to their peers, like a true scientist.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Down in the Dirt<\/td>\nDon\u2019t be afraid of a little dirt, instead join us in an exciting agriculture journey! We will learn about why soil is important, why farmers identify and track their animals, and what happens to grass in a cow\u2019s stomach. Dream it, Print it – 3D Printing<\/td>\nHave you ever wondered how 3D printing works? This class is a basic introduction to technology and software. Students will learn about printers and how to use printing software. They will also design and create their own name tags!<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Epic Design Challenge<\/td>\nIf you have ever wondered how bridges or buildings are built, this is the class for you! In this class, students will design their own structures, learn the laws of physics, and measure their own strength.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Explore STEAM with Nintendo<\/td>\nExplore skills like creativity, collaboration, critical thinking and problem-solving in this hands-on class!\u00a0 Students will be able to build, program, and experiment using the Nintendo Switch and Labo system.\u00a0 They will face challenges and learn how work together to accomplish a goal \u2013 all while having fun!<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Intro to Scuba<\/td>\nCome take a dive with us! This class will introduce students to the basics of scuba diving including physics, laws, and technology. Students will also learn scuba safety and get to implement their skills in the SAU pool.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Mulerider Detectives<\/td>\nCalling all Detectives! In this class, we will learn how to use forensic science to find evidence, uncover clues, and develop investigation skills. Through hands-on projects like fingerprinting, crime scene processing, and learning about basic court procedures, students will experience first-hand what it\u2019s like to work in the criminal justice field.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Mulerider Tank<\/td>\nStep into the Mulerider Tank!\u00a0 In this class, students will explore different aspects of business like entrepreneurship, marketing and finance.\u00a0 They will also work on oral presentation skills as they pitch their ideas to the Mulerider Tank!<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Music & Technology<\/td>\nCalling all musicians! With more and more live performances going virtual, now is the perfect time to learn about all the things you can do with music and technology. In this class, students will participate in various music activities geared towards music production, recording, engineering, and studio editing.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Nutrition and Diet<\/td>\nDo you like food? If so, come and explore the nutrition and ingredients in the food you eat every day! Students will look at food groups, vitamins, and ingredients to learn more about what goes into their bodies through the foods they eat.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Ocean Exploration<\/td>\nJoin us as we dive deeper into oceanic processes. In this class, students will learn more about the ocean, what organisms live there, and how they survive. You can even bring your experiments home to show the whole family how awesome the ocean can be!<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Pickleball<\/td>\nIf you like tennis or ping pong, this is the sport for you! Pickleball is a sport that combines the skills of tennis and ping pong while advancing hand-eye coordination and overall fitness.\u00a0 It also encourages team work and sportsmanship.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
SAU Summer Sports<\/td>\nSAU Summer Sports is in a league of its own! This class will provide fun, active ways to get you up and moving. Students will be introduced to a variety of summer sports while exploring several careers they could enter into within the field of sports.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Save Lives! CPR and Infection Control<\/td>\nGerms, germs, they\u2019re everywhere! Students will be introduced to basic CPR and infection control such as handwashing, personal protective equipment, and infection control etiquette. Come and learn how to save lives with us!<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Scenic Design<\/td>\nThe show must go on, but not without the set! Come take a look at what goes on backstage of a theatrical production.\u00a0 You will learn about each role involved in putting together a stage production, as well as design, build and paint your own set model!<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
School Counselingo<\/td>\nDo you speak it? School Counseling, that is. In this course, we will take a journey to explore the various roles school counselors perform while building social and emotional skills. You don\u2019t want to miss out on the fun as we learn to speak the lingo of school counseling.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Stop Motion Animation<\/td>\nStop Motion is animation that is captured one frame at a time with physical objects that are moved between frames. In this class, we will explore animation software and create a short film using LEGO figures.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Teaching 101<\/td>\nThink you have what it takes to be a teacher? Join us if you are up for the challenge! In this class, students will get a glimpse into lesson planning and classroom management.\u00a0 Students will develop skills to aid in becoming successful educators!<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Bags and Blankets for The CALL<\/td>\nThe CALL was formed in 2013 with the mission to provide foster and adoptive homes for children in foster care. This organization is operated by several churches in Columbia County and aims to have a positive impact on the lives of children in foster care and those available for adoption. Students participating in this service project will decorate tote bags, make fleece tie-blankets, and assemble packages with hygiene products to help children in need.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Birdhouses for Wentworth Place<\/td>\nWentworth Place provides comfortable accommodations for elders in the Magnolia community. Those that work at Wentworth recognize the importance of performing their jobs with compassion by providing comfort and an enriched in-home setting that allows their residents to feel like family. Students participating in this service project will assist The University of Arkansas System of Agriculture in building birdhouses that will be delivered to the residents of Wentworth Place. These birdhouses will enhance the outdoor experience the residents have.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Cards for Hospitalized Kids<\/td>\nCards for Hospitalized Kids is an internationally recognized charitable organization that spreads hope, joy, and magic to hospitalized kids across America through uplifting, handmade cards. Over 100,000 kids in hospitals nationwide have received cards. Students participating in this service project will create handmade cards to mail to hospitalized kids. This is a great way to have fun and give back at the same time. The handmade card will be used to bring joy and happiness to kids in need.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Chew Toys for CCAPS<\/td>\nCCAPS is a nonprofit organization that benefits abandoned or abused animals in Columbia County Arkansas. Their mission is to provide temporary humane care, food, water, shelter, and medical attention for stray, homeless, abandoned, and neglected animals. The shelter houses over 100 different dogs and cats and takes in over 1000 unwanted animals each year. Students participating in this service project will help make toys for the dogs and cats at the shelter. Each toy made will bring joy to all animals at CCAPS.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Coloring Books for Compassion’s Foundation<\/td>\nCompassion\u2019s Foundation, Inc. serves Columbia County and the surrounding areas by providing emergency, safe shelter, and related services to victims of domestic violence and their children. This organization hosts numerous events throughout the year to raise awareness about domestic violence and victim services offered. Students participating in this service project will create handwritten cards welcoming the mothers and children to the shelter as well as create a coloring book for the shelter to pass out to the children there. These activities will make a positive impact on the lives of the mothers and children that enter the shelter seeking assistance.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Crocheting for a Cause<\/td>\nMembers of Crocheting for a Cause put their hooks and yarn to good use by coming together to make a difference in the lives of children, veterans, and cancer patients. Their goal is to bring joy and a smile to the faces of those they serve. Since 2012, they have donated over 1,000 lap blankets and caps to people in need. Students participating in this service project will learn the art of crocheting while making a positive impact on someone\u2019s life.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Door Decorations for Encompass Hospice<\/td>\nThose that work for or with Encompass Hospice are committed to delivering the highest care to their patients. Patients receive the best care at all times while receiving the support and guidance they need. Students participating in this service project will create door decorations for the patients of Encompass Hospice. By doing so, students will be supporting, encouraging, and comforting patients as they go through tough times.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Flower Arrangements for DudneyWood<\/td>\nDudneyWood is a retirement and assisted living community in Magnolia, Arkansas. Their mission is to provide a distinctive, dignified way of life that is not only safe, secure, and personalized but thoroughly enjoyable for their residents. Students participating in this service project will design floral arrangements. This will provide a positive emotional impact on the residents as well as serve as personal touches in their rooms. Flowers have an immediate impact on happiness and can have long-term positive effects on moods.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Paracord Bracelets for Operation Gratitude<\/td>\nOperation Gratitude serves deployed troops, first responders, veterans, military families, and more by delivering thousands of care packages filled with items donated by Americans and service-friendly companies. Every care package includes a bundle of letters from the American people and a paracord bracelet. Students participating in this service project will write letters thanking our troops, veterans, wounded heroes, and first responders for their service to our country. They will also make paracord bracelets that can be used to save the life of a soldier in an emergency situation.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
