The University will be closed for the holidays and specified vacation days indicated below for the 2024-2025 year. Please note that this is the same number of holidays that other employees of the state receive but some are observed at different times. These holidays are for twelve-month faculty and staff and denote the official closing of the University. Nine-month faculty and staff generally follow the academic calendar.<\/p>\n

Independence Day<\/strong><\/td>\nClosed Thursday, July 4, 2024.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Labor Day<\/strong><\/td>\nClosed Monday, September 2, 2024.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Fall Break Week<\/strong><\/td>\nSAU hours will be 7:00 to 5:30, Monday through Wednesday, October 07-09, 2024 with a 30-minute lunch break. October 10 is a President-declared holiday.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Fall Break<\/strong><\/td>\nClosed October 10-11, 2024.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Thanksgiving Week<\/strong><\/td>\nSAU hours will be 7:30 to 5:30 on Monday and Tuesday, November 25 and 26, 2024 with a 30-minute lunch break.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Thanksgiving Break<\/strong><\/td>\nClosed November 27-29, 2024. See note 1 below.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Christmas\/New Year\u2019s Break<\/strong><\/td>\nClosed Thursday, December 19, 2024, at 5:30 p.m. until Monday, January 6, 2025. SAU hours will be 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. with a 30-minute lunch break, week of December 16-19. SAU closes at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, December 19, 2024, and reopens at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, January 6, 2025. See note 2 below.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Martin Luther King Jr. Day<\/strong><\/td>\nMonday, January 20, 2025. The University is open; (this holiday is observed during the Christmas\/New Year\u2019s Break). Classes will not meet. See note 3 below.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Spring Break<\/strong><\/td>\nMarch 24-28, 2025. Closed Friday, March 28, 2025. SAU hours will be 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. with a 30-minute lunch break, Monday, March 24 \u2013 Thursday, March 27.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Memorial Day<\/strong><\/td>\nClosed Monday, May 26, 2025.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/div>\n

  1. \u00a0For Wednesday, November 27, 2024, five (5) hours of mandatory leave will be taken from 12-month faculty and staff.<\/li>\n
  2. Holidays observed by staff during the Christmas\/New Year’s break are: Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, George Washington’s Birthday\/Daisy Gaston Bates Day, Veteran’s Day, and Employee’s Birthday. This year includes two SAU Holidays and 8 hours of mandatory annual leave.<\/li>\n
  3. Classes will not meet on Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. The students and faculty will have the day off. A survey of the staff indicated that an overwhelming majority wished to continue observing Dr. King’s birthday during the Christmas\/New Year’s break; therefore, the University will remain open. Supervisors will make every effort to allow any staff member to take a day of annual leave if they prefer.
