Southern Arkansas University (SAU), Magnolia, is seeking applications for the position of Director of Jazz Ensembles/High Brass Instructor. The position will be housed in the Department of Performing Arts and Mass Communication. The department offers the following: Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Performing Arts with concentrations in Music with Studies in Business, Music Education, Music Performance, Musical Theatre, and Theatre and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communication with a concentration in Mass Media. The department also houses various vocal and instrumental ensembles.
Review of applications will begin on January 31, 2023, but the position will remain open until filled. Proposed starting date is August 1, 2023.
Duties: Lead and Direct the Jazz program; teach trumpet and French horn lessons; assist with the RiderSound basketball prep band; teach other music courses depending upon areas of expertise or interest, or as needed by department; recruit for department and ensembles and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Master’s degree in music and public-school teaching required; previous collegiate or university-level teaching experience desired.
