Southern Arkansas University is searching for an Academic Advisor for Student-Athletes. This position reports to the Office of Institutional Effectiveness within the Academic Affairs Division and works collaboratively with the Athletic Department.
Duties: Provide academic advising services to student-athletes; design and facilitate workshops and teach success skills to student-athletes as necessary; meet weekly with academically at-risk student-athletes, and assist in implementing success strategies; maintain academic records on student-athletes needing intervention; assist student-athletes in short term and long term academic program planning as necessary; communicate and collaborate with other academic advisors, departments, and programs to maintain consistency in advising; participate in student orientations as needed and other duties as assigned. This position occasionally requires evening and/or weekend work to facilitate study halls, host workshops, and engage student-athletes.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred in counseling, education, or athletic administration; preference is given to candidates having experience advising students or in academic success coaching.
