Duties: Obtain a thorough understanding of federal and state procurement laws and regulations; provide training for faculty and staff regarding new and existing purchasing policy and procedures, purchase orders, and travel requisitions; review incoming purchase requests and related documentation for proper signatures, approvals, and fund account information as well as approving purchasing and travel requests and assigning appropriate purchasing codes; oversee the University’s corporate card program and other various payment options; download monthly spend data and assist with monthly reconciliations; participate in reviewing proposals, evaluating requirements, and documenting bid selection; maintain contract information, including change orders or expiration/renewal dates; prepare fixed asset reports as requested and maintain fixed asset software and all fixed asset records; analyze campus purchasing data/trends to determine the best strategy for purchasing goods and services in order to increase savings and obtain best value for all purchases; communicate purchasing information to the campus community, the State Purchasing Department, and other external agencies; maintain purchasing and accounts payable files, including bid documents, vendor payments, IRS forms, check registers, and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: bachelor’s degree in business related field; minimum three to five years of managerial procurement experience; organizational and supervisory skills; strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills; knowledge of Microsoft Office; ability to foster positive, collegial, and collaborative relationships with diverse groups; purchasing experience in higher education or other public office preferred; advanced purchasing certifications preferred; knowledge of Jenzabar software preferred; All SAU faculty and staff demonstrate a commitment to inclusion and diversity of the University community and excellence in interpersonal behaviors and effective collaboration with colleagues.
