The SAU+VISTA AmeriCorps program is an anti-poverty initiative focused on building the capacity of Southern Arkansas University and community partners to increase student retention leading to more successful college completion for students at SAU.
The Director of SAU+VISTA is one of two program managers responsible for the management and support of the SAU+VISTA program. The Director of SAU+VISTA is part of a highly collaborative team responsible for a 20-member cohort-based program. The position reports to the SAU+VISTA Vice President for Student Affairs at Southern Arkansas University and is located in Magnolia, AR.
The Director of SAU+VISTA is a full-time, non-classified, professional position. It is an end position which is subject to renewal based on funding availability and incumbent performance. A valid driver’s license is required. A three-part background check including fingerprinting is required for employment in this position.
Duties: Program operations, evaluation and reporting; member recruitment; member support and training; supervisor support and development; program administration and documentation; track member time and attendance; expense reporting; E-grants; payroll forms/onboarding; recruit and train; host site development and support; monitor and report; supervision and support of VISTA Leaders and general operations ensuring that all programmatic and financial activities comply with the terms and conditions of the program sponsor, The Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Master’s degree in a related academic program required; minimum of five (5) years relevant program and administrative experience; knowledge of federal program requirements; direct experience with federal compliance preferred; knowledge of and experience with software necessary to implement related duties; strong initiative and personal integrity with demonstrated ability to independently implement program; identify and resolve day-to-day program problems as well as work collaboratively; ability to plan and implement workshops, meetings, and events that meet specific programmatic goals and service designated target audiences; strong written and oral communication skills including public speaking skills; strong organizational, documentation and supervisory skills; excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, students, administrators as well as community-based agencies/groups and the public.
