The University Communications and Marketing Department (UCM) at Southern Arkansas University seeks an experienced and supportive leader as Director of Marketing and Communications. This role which will require the ability to coordinate many initiatives and changing priorities, communicate with staff on campus and those working remotely, and represent UCM at leadership and committee meetings across campus.
UCM is a centralized service department working under Student Affairs and serving all SAU colleges and departments. Along with creatively overseeing all of the internal and external marketing and communications efforts, UCM also runs the University’s Copy Center, oversees the bidding process for all print publications, and produces marketing budgets and plans.
UCM has a strong reputation on campus, and its dedicated staff has been an integral part of SAU’s continued record enrollments and fundraising milestones.
Duties: Lead a staff of skilled creative storytellers and student workers; ensure timely, deadline-driven completion of various priority-level projects; be a problem-solver and creative thinker as a representative of UCM at campus committee and leadership meetings; disseminate appropriate information to UCM staff; oversee the SAU marketing budget and UCM administrative budgets; complete employee reviews; assist with and facilitate SAU telling our story; coordinate with administration, UCM staff, college deans and department chairs to plan and facilitate implementation of marketing campaigns; coordinate with regional media outlets and other marketing vendors to maximize SAU’s marketing budget; help facilitate a stringent approval process, which maintains the University’s marketing brand; serve as editor for all campus publications; assist in media relations inquiries and be a spokesperson for the University, as needed and other duties as assigned.
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, related field or Bachelor’s degree with related experiences required; Master’s degree in marketing, communications, public administration, or related field preferred; organized with a detail- and goal-oriented mindset; superior time- and stress-management skills; excellent written and verbal communicator; management/Leadership experience; must have strong design skills, aesthetic skills, and a large degree of soft skills for the position; project management skills; data analytics; experience with project management software, experience in higher-education marketing/communications or enrollment management and experience with Adobe Creative Suite preferred.
