Southern Arkansas University’s College of Education seeks an outstanding candidate to serve as the founding Director and Assistant/Associate Professor of the newly approved Doctor of Education in Rural and Diverse Educational Leadership. The appointment is a full-time, tenure track faculty position.
Duties: Lead the program from concept to first cohort matriculation in Fall 2021, and beyond; finalize the curriculum, course development, program assessment, and other academic processes; collaborate with diverse and highly qualified program faculty; mentor, advise, support doctoral level students from admission through the dissertation process year-round; support the program via student recruitment and retention including maintaining program webpage and working closely with the Communications Center to market the program; supervise research of doctoral candidates; develop collaborative research agendas in rural and diverse educational leadership;
chair and serve on doctoral committees; collect accreditation data each semester and write required accreditation reports; foster relationships between the department and rural schools/districts, colleges/universities, and community agencies and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: An earned doctorate in education (Ed.D.) from a regionally accredited institution;
minimum of three years teaching experience in higher education; Doctoral-level teaching experience preferred; leadership in education (K12 and/or Higher Education); proven track record of successful online teaching and advising of graduate students, chairing dissertation committees, or research.
