Duties: Communicate and articulate the vision, mission, goals and core values of the University; maintain a personal portfolio of up to 150 major and mid-level gift prospects through the entire cycle of development-from research and identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship; serve as the primary relationship manager for this portfolio of prospects; develop and implement a written donor strategy and relationship record (using Raisers Edge) of all interactions; secure private support for Southern Arkansas University from alumni, friends, corporations, and other sources, with an emphasis on major gifts through face to face, virtual, and phone call visits; collaborate with the SAU Foundation and SAU Alumni Association to create meaningful opportunities for major gift prospects to engage on campus through events, programs, and volunteerism to ensure the donor experience is exceptional; meet clear and measurable goals and key performance related to amount raised per year, number of donor touches performed, and number of proposals presented; utilize Raisers Edge and internal reports to track and report on progress to goal including contact, follow-up actions, gifts, and pledges; screen and prepare profiles of current and prospective donors; work effectively with others; provide detailed prospect reports for University Leaders as requested; attend and staff events both on and off campus as required, including weekends and evenings and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college/university; Master’s degree preferred; two to four years’ experience in major gifts in a higher education setting preferred; demonstrate superior interpersonal skills and ability to communicate professionally with a culturally diverse group of co-workers and donors; possess a proven track record in organizational and project management skills and ability to prioritize workload in a timely manner to complete assignments with many deadlines and competing requirements; excellent oral and written communication skills; overnight travel, locally and out of state by car and air required; have a valid driver’s license and be insurable under the University’s auto fleet policy.
