Duties: Perform PC hardware and software installations, configurations, upgrades, troubleshoot, and make repairs; perform one-on-one training; repair and install telephone/remote support and similar activities; confer with end users to determine types of hardware and software required to achieve specific goals; participate in evaluating new hardware and software and related standards; assist in developing and implementing network/telecommunications and personal computer standards and procedures; assist in supervision of student technicians; attend training as required by management; stay abreast of PC hardware, software, and related technologies; and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Associate’s degree or accredited technical school certificate of competency in personal computer support required; or two years’ experience providing personal computer support in an information technology environment may substitute for the associate’s degree or certificate requirements; Bachelor’s degree in a computer related field from an accredited institution of higher learning, experience working in a PC/Network support position, and experience working in a university environment preferred; working knowledge of desktop/laptop hardware and software; ability to relate to clients in a professional manner; a desire to learn.
