Duties: Assist the director with supervision and administration of the Upward Bound program; hire, train, supervise and evaluate part-time program instructional staff; assist with overall program administration; visit local and target schools for recruitment presentations; provide academic advising; recruit program participants; compile program data for annual performance report; counsel students regarding college admissions, qualifications and procedures; develop academic and summer curriculum for students and track student progress; attend cultural field trips and college tours; must be able to work 40 hours per week and willing to work a flexible schedule including daytime, evening, and weekend hours perform other duties as needed for the efficient operation of the unit. This position is governed by the policies of the institution and the Upward Bound grant.
Qualifications: Master’s degree in education or counseling; three years of successful teaching experience; knowledge of various computer programs; excellent written and oral communication skills; knowledge of college admissions and financial aid procedures and experience working with low-income, first generation and/or minority students; ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with students, parents and the public.
