Southern Arkansas University, Magnolia, is seeking applications for a non-tenure tract position of Instructor of Theatre. Full consideration will be given to applications received by March 13, 2020.
Housed in the Department of Performing Arts and Mass Communication, the Theatre program offers B.F.A. degrees in Performance with emphasis in Theatre and Musical Theatre.
Duties: Teach a 12 hour workload of classes; course load may include: Movement, Directing, Devised Theatre, Scene Study (beginning and intermediate), Styles of Acting I and II, Improvisation and other related courses in performance; serve as the department’s fight choreographer; contribute to the mainstage or studio production season directing plays and/or musicals; participate in season planning process; budgeting; attend scholarship auditions and departmental meetings; share in annual duties of department’s administration and activities; and other duties as assigned
Qualifications: MFA in Performance, Acting or Directing; two (2) or more years of college level teaching experience; demonstrated skill and evidence as a theatre director and as a movement and/or stage combat teacher; experience and familiarity with curriculum development, advising, recruitment and season planning; professional movement and stage combat credits and/or certifications; professional and academic memberships or certifications; record of community-engaged teaching or extra-curricular activities.
