Southern Arkansas University is accepting applications for a 9-month Assistant or Associate Professor, tenure-track position in Exercise Science, effective August 2020.
The Department of Health, Kinesiology and Recreation is one of the largest on campus. The department focuses on Exercise Science, Sports Management, Teacher Preparation and curriculum designed to meet evolving needs of the Athletic Training field of Study (Approximately 350 undergraduate majors). The Exercise Science program at Southern Arkansas University is a vibrant program and one of the fastest growing majors on campus with 145 majors.
The department offers BS and MS degrees. We actively collaborate with all departments within the College of Education as well as other relevant colleges/programs on our campus and local hospitals, and community organizations.
Duties: teach a full-time load consisting of traditional and online instruction; serve as the Program Assessment Coordinator for the Exercise Science degree program; direct the Kinesiology Lab; use a student-centered approach to teaching, advising/mentoring; serve on committees; scholarship and service to the university, department and community and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: earned doctorate required; ABD or Master’s considered for a term position; demonstrate excellence as a classroom teacher; experience teaching with technology and online; work with a team-centered approach; experience and understanding of ACSM, NSCA and/or other related professional bodies; experience with common equipment used in Exercise Science curriculum.
