Duties: Perform PC hardware and software installations, configurations, upgrades, troubleshoot, and make repairs; perform one-on-one training; repair and install telephone/remote support and similar activities; confer with end users to determine types of hardware and software required to achieve specific goals; participate in evaluating new hardware and software and related standards; assist in developing and implementing network/telecommunications and personal computer standards and procedures; assist in supervision of student technicians; attend training as required by management; stay abreast of PC hardware, software, and related technologies and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Associate’s degree or accredited technical school certificate of competency in personal computer support are required, or two years’ experience providing personal computer support in an information technology environment may substitute for the associate’s degree or certificate requirements; bachelor’s degree in a computer related field from an accredited institution of higher learning preferred, experience working in a PC/Network support position, and experience working in a university environment preferred; working knowledge of desktop/laptop hardware and software; ability to relate to clients in a professional manner and a desire to learn.
