Southern Arkansas University invites applicants for a tenure-track position of Assistant Professor of Public Health. This position will be housed within the Department of Nursing, a unit of the College of Science and Engineering. SAU, the fastest growing university in the state, is a public regional institution comprised of approximately 4,600 undergraduate and graduate students and over 350 faculty and staff located in Magnolia, AR. and accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. The starting date for this position will be August 2018.
Duties: teach core and elective courses in Public Health, including: Fundamentals of Public Health, Health Care and Public Health Policy, and Personal and Community Health; candidate will have the ability to teach additional courses within area of expertise. New faculty is expected to advise public health students and lead the new public health bachelor degree, work collaboratively with colleagues from multiple disciplines to deliver the University’s Public Health curriculum; the position includes an expectation of active scholarship, an institutional, community, and professional service appropriate to the needs of the College and University.
Qualifications: earned doctorate in Public Health or a closely related field is preferred (Master’s in Public Health or a related discipline will also be considered); teaching experience and past involvement with communities on public health initiatives is desirable ; ability to teach Nursing courses, but not required.
