Duties: Assist the Head Athletic Trainer with aspects of the Athletic Training program; assist with athlete files, policies and procedures, etc.; attend state, district, and National Athletic Trainers Association meetings; provide medical coverage for athletic teams as assigned by Head Athletic Trainer with primary coverage of Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams; cover all practices and games associated with primary coverage sports, including Saturday and Sunday practices, games, and treatment times possible; supervise Graduate Assistants; serve as a preceptor for students completing clinical experiences within the Athletic Training Program; team travel will be coordinated with and approved by the Head Athletic Trainer as needed; keep up-to-date insurance & medical records on all athletes using medical records software; coordinate the collection of athlete’s medical and insurance information; confirm all athlete’s insurance information at the beginning of each year (July & August); re-confirm the athlete’s insurance information when an athlete is injured/becomes ill; coordinate and follow-up on athlete’s medical billing and insurance filing with providers; coordinate with part-time employee to arrange payment of medical expenses; submit reports, on request, of year-to-date medical claims, loss runs, and expenses paid and perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications: Bachelor degree required, Masters preferred in Athletic Training or related field; certified Athletic Trainer, in good standing with the Board of Certification; licensed Athletic Trainer in the state of Arkansas, or license eligible; CPR Instructor certification, or willing to obtain; 2-5 years athletic training experience as a certified athletic trainer working at the collegiate level, preferred, (high school experience considered); men’s and women’s experience required; must follow all GAC and NCAA rules and regulations; must be willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays as dictated by athletic team coverage; experience working with computer based athletic medical record/insurance software; experience working in Microsoft Office programs; good organizational and time management skills, ability to multitask & effective oral and written communication skills; ability to work as a team member.
