Opioid overdose is currently the leading cause of death among adults 50 years old and younger in the United States. Without immediate intervention, opioid overdoses can quickly lead to death. These kits provide Naloxone, an opioid overdose reversal medication. These will improve the capacity of bystander rescuers to save the lives of victims of opioid overdose.<\/p><p>Instructions are provided in the kit, and all Southern Arkansas University staff, faculty, and students are also encouraged to review the 20-minute SafeColleges <a href=\"https:\/\/ualr-ar.safecolleges.com\/courses\/details\/82962EBC-25D1-11EA-BE44-1BD72E253C89\">Opioid Overdose Kit training<\/a>\u00a0(search for Opioid Overdose Response Awareness).<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-45c9a62 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"45c9a62\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" id=\"faq\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Frequently Asked Questions<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-3fa56e6f elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"3fa56e6f\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h4>How do you know if someone may have overdosed on an opioid?<\/h4><p>Common signs are respiratory failure, slow breathing, small pupils, unresponsiveness, or blue skin from poor circulation.<\/p><h4>Will it hurt them to give Naloxone if they haven\u2019t used an opioid?<\/h4><p>No, Naloxone is harmless if given to someone who doesn\u2019t need it.<\/p><h4>Can anyone administer the Naloxone?<\/h4><p>Yes. In-person training is not required. Instructions are provided on this site as well as inside the kit itself. The kit has instructions to call 911, as well as if and when to give a second dose of Naloxone.<\/p><h4>Could the person sue me for giving them Naloxone?<\/h4><p>No. According to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/artakeback.org\/good-samaritan-law-dont-run-call-911-2\/\">Arkansas Take Back<\/a>,<\/p><blockquote><p>The Opioid Antagonist Immunity Act (2015)\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/artakeback.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/SB880.pdf\">SB880<\/a> allows individuals to administer naloxone in good faith without civil liability, criminal liability, or professional sanctions. The purpose is to enhance the emergency services of first responders, to create the naloxone access act, and to provide immunity for prescribing, dispensing, and administering naloxone and other
