Senators in attendance were Kendra Copeland, LaTricia Davis, Sarah Jennings, Josh Kee, Jeremy Langley, Eric Plummer, Shawana Reed, Sandra Smith, Becki Talley, Houston Taylor, Amber Sharp, Sandra Walker, Lesley Walthall, and Wilma Williams.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Approval of Minutes<\/strong><br \/>\nThe meeting was called to order by Houston Taylor. Jeremy Langley made a motion to accept the minutes with a second by Josh Kee.   <\/p>\n<p><strong>Old Business<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>University and Academic Committee Assignments<br \/>\nHouston Taylor announced that notices were sent out about new committee member assignments. These members were chosen from the newly elected members of the Staff Senate.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Committee Reports<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Fringe Benefits<br \/>\nJosh Kee reported that he had attended the Fringe Benefits Committee meeting. A representative from Blue Cross\/Blue Shield presented a new wellness program called Health Connect. The committee took no action on the presentation and will study it further. They will discuss it again at their next meeting. <\/p>\n<p>Academic Affairs<br \/>\nLaTricia Davis reported that Academic Affairs Committee met on September 30. There were 157 items to be discussed. All but about 15 items were tabled until the next committee meeting on October 26.<\/p>\n<p><strong>New Business<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Benevolence Fund<br \/>\nLatricia Davis reported that she had checked with the Foundation Office about having a benevolence fund going through the Foundation Office, but because this is not a part of the foundation\u2019s mission statement, it can\u2019t be done. Several suggestions were made on how to have a fund set up and what would be the criteria for receiving money from the benevolence fund. A committee was appointed with Kendra Copeland chairing the committee with LaTrica Davis assisting. They will report back at the next Staff Senate meeting. LaTricia noted she is still receiving money for James Jones.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Other<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Staff Senate Committee Assignments<br \/>\nThe Constitution Committee will be Houston Taylor, Wilma Williams, Cynthia Blake, and Shawana Reed.<\/p>\n<p>The Election Committee will be Eric Plummer, Josh Kee, Shelly Whaley and Tammi Sims<\/p>\n<p>The Staff Breakfast Committee will be the Student Affairs staff. Sandra Smith noted that things were already being discussed about the breakfast.<\/p>\n<p>Staff Employee Updates<br \/>\nSeveral people were mentioned again that are having health issues and the Staff Senate would like to remember them with thoughts and prayers. Sandra Smith announced that there would be a blood drive for Coach Adcox on October 22 and that a Caring Bridge website had been set up for anyone that wants to know how Coach Adcox is doing and also to send messages to the family. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Adjournment<\/strong><br \/>\nThe motion to adjourn was made by Josh Kee and seconded by LaTricia Davis.
