{"id":125,"date":"2009-07-22T13:37:15","date_gmt":"2009-07-22T18:37:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/web.saumag.edu\/directory\/?p=125"},"modified":"2025-01-20T18:10:15","modified_gmt":"2025-01-21T00:10:15","slug":"rankin-david","status":"publish","type":"contact","link":"https:\/\/web.saumag.edu\/directory\/contact\/rankin-david\/","title":{"rendered":"Rankin, David"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Educational Background<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>B.S.B.A., University of Arkansas<\/li>\n<li>M.B.A., Louisiana Tech University<\/li>\n<li>Ph.D., University of Mississippi<\/li>\n<li>C.F.A.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Dr. Rankin earned a bachelor&#8217;s degree from the University of Arkansas, an M.B.A. from\u00a0Louisiana Tech University, and a Ph.D. in Finance from the University of Mississippi.\u00a0 Dr. Rankin\u00a0also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. David Rankin retired as President of SAU on June 30, 2015 and named President Emeritus. He served SAU for 46 years, and the past 13 as president. \u00a0He also served as the dean of College of Business and Professor of Finance and Economics.<\/p>\n<p>In 2002, he set forth with his ambitious \u201cBlue and Gold Vision,\u201d SAU\u2019s first capital campaign. He has almost completed that vision with numerous campus capital projects, totaling more than $100 million, the most recent project, the $4.4 million SAU Story Arena and Farmers Bank Reception Center. With the addition of the Governor Ben and Lucile Laney farm and the 400 acre Ted Monroe farm the University was more than doubled in size to a total of 1892 acres.<\/p>\n<p>Rankin facilitated growth for SAU\u2019s quality academic programs.\u00a0 Many cutting-edge programs have been added to SAU\u2019s comprehensive list of degrees, including the recent engineering program, the computer game and animation design program, wildlife and marine biology, and digital cinema production.<\/p>\n<p>Rankin has served as the Economic Advisor to Arkansas Governors since 1976 and currently is Chairman of the Governor\u2019s Council of Economic Advisors.\u00a0 In addition, the Americanism Educational League Award for excellence in teaching Free Enterprise Economics was awarded to Rankin multiple times.<\/p>\n<p>He is a George Washington Honor Medal recipient from the Freedoms Foundation for Excellence in Economic Education.\u00a0 He served as Chair of then Governor Mike Huckabee\u2019s Summit on Economic Development in 1998.\u00a0 He currently serves as Chair of the Golden Triangle Economic Development Council, as a member of the Board of Directors of the Arkansas Council of Economic Education.\u00a0 Rankin has also served on the NCAA Division II National Presidents\u2019 Council and the NCAA Long-Range Planning Task Force.<\/p>\n<p>He is the author of &#8220;What Every American Needs to Know About Economics&#8221; released in 2018.<\/p>\n<p>He is married to Toni and they have three children: Curtice, Beth Anne, and John.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Educational Background B.S.B.A., University of Arkansas M.B.A., Louisiana Tech University Ph.D., University of Mississippi C.F.A.
