Shawn Young is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker and has been with SAU full time since the Spring Semester 2014. He came to us via New Hampshire where he had been practicing Clinical Social Work with a wide variety of clients and organizations, including the field of Equine Assisted Psychotherapy. He holds a BS in Communication Disorders from the University of New Hampshire where he also minored in Experiential Educations and played rugby for 4 years. After graduating and working in the field for a time, he joined the United States Air Force as a Mental Health Technician (medic), during his time in the service he earned his AAS in Mental Health Services as well as a The Air Force Achievement Medal for Meritorious Service. After his time with the 439th ASTS (Aerospace Staging Squadron) he continued his education with Graduate Work at Smith College in Northampton , MA. Mr. Young currently serves the SAU Social Work program as field director as well as professor.
