Educational Background

  • M.L.I.S., University of Texas at AustinMs. Walters received BA and MA degrees in English from the University of Texas, El Paso (UPEP) and an MLS in Library and Information Science from the University of Texas, Austin. She taught English at UTEP and St. Edward’s University in Austin, as well as high school English in El Paso.

    At Southern Arkansas University, Ms. Walters worked first as the Public Services/Instruction Librarian and then as Director of Magale Library. In 2008, the Arkansas Library Association presented her with the Frances P. Neal Award for a career of notable service to the library profession. Currently Ms. Walters is Director of the Library Media and Information Specialists program and Associate Professor of Education.
