Dr. Sam Heintz received his B.S. in Chemical Engineering in 1982 and his M.S. in Chemical Engineering in 1986, both from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. He then completed his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville in 1996. He worked in the Advanced Development Labs at Texas Instruments, Dallas for four years in process development, and he also has worked as a senior process engineer for both Esterline and Zodiac Aerospace. Prior to joining SAU in 2001, Dr. Heintz was a professor of engineering at Westark College (now University of Arkansas, Fort Smith) for 15 years, where he started and led the engineering program. He holds a Professional Engineering license in Arkansas and has had numerous consulting jobs throughout the state. His research interests include biotechnology and sustainability. Dr. Heintz is currently serving as the chair of the Engineering and Physics Department.
